  • Behind the Lens

Since I started taking pictures professionally a little over a year ago I've been mesmerized by other (more experienced) photographers' blog sites and web sites. I knew that when I got going, a blog was the first thing I wanted to invest in long term.

I want to start off by letting you all know how I got started. Of course, I was one of those girls in high school who had a new Myspace profile picture DAILY. Around February of 2010, I was talking on the phone with my mom who had just seen a new album of mine on Facebook. I'd gone on a road trip with my fiancée, Rodney, and used him as a model- against his wishes. My mom told me that she thought I had an eye for photography, and that if I wanted to pursue it, she would pay for me to take classes and see what I could get out of them. I didn't take classes, but being the impulse shopper that I am, I bought my very first DSLR camera and it came with a lens. I couldn't wait to take it out of the box and find a model. The only person in my household who seems content with me taking their picture is our dog, Meatsie. Eventually I spread the word around the preschool that I work at that I would be taking free photo sessions to the first couple of clients I had. I started with a couple of families, then a few couples, and eventually I had my own Facebook page, and a whole slew of clients. I have been so blessed this year in finding amazing and beautiful people to photograph, as well as making new friends who enjoy capturing special moments as much as I do.

I am SO excited to get this blog up and running, and being able to showcase my work! Stay tuned... this is the start of something BEAUTIFUL!

Aaron | Senior 2012

WOWZERS!!! I have been so busy with school and doing my practicum work at the Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains that I COMPLETELY forgot to post my little brother’s senior pictures! This kid- to me he will ALWAYS be my kid brother who bit me on the shoulder- is one of THE smartest people I know. He has always had such a motivation to learn and achieve as much knowledge as he could, and it was still never enough. Aaron chose to play the Viola in orchestra at an early age and then taught himself to play the piano, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and heaven only knows what else, by ear. Aaron will graduate from Temple High School in May in the top 3 or 4% in his class and already has early acceptance to Texas A&M University to study Biomedical Engineering. {I know, right?! What CAN’T this kid do?.. AND he’s handsome!- LOOK OUT LADIES!! (;} Enough of the bragging..

I went home from Lubbock to Temple one weekend to take his senior pictures only to have mother nature choose the same weekend to send tons and tons of rain our way. Lucky us! My family laughs in the face of mother nature, apparently, and we decided to chance the outdoors anyway. We ended up catching a couple hours sun while at the park and at his school, and then went to my mom’s office for the rest of his pictures. Please enjoy and expect more.. because now that I have his permission, this boy will be ALL OVER my blog in posts to come! [:

Alanah Valdez | Senior 2012

This last Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing Alanah’s senior photos! Originally from Andrews, Alanah recently transferred from Andrews High School to a school here in Lubbock. For this special young lady’s session I felt that a roadtrip was in order! Alanah and I had a blast hunting for locations out of town, jamming to pop music and having a girls day! So… here she is, Miss Alanah Valdez, senior class of 2012, enjoy! [:

Reese Major | Newborn

This sweet baby was born on December 19, 2011 and I had the great honor of photographing him for the first time! [: Reese was born into an amazing family with parents heavily involved in school and has the sweetest and most protective siblings any little baby could be blessed with. Enjoy these pictures of this sweet baby boy!

Daniel & Kristin | Christmas Mini

This couple is no stranger to Ashley Nicole Photography. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph their engagement photos, Kristin’s bridal portraits, and now their Christmas pictures after their first anniversary! The weather was beautiful and I feel so honored to document their second Christmas holiday as a married couple. So, once again, here are Daniel and Kristin- enjoy! [:

Zane | Headshot Mini Session

This spur of the moment shoot led to a new friend and some portraits that are among some of my absolute favorite! Here’s Zane- enjoy! [:
